Tell Congress not to give free rein to fossil fuels

Congress is poised to pass an unprecedented backroom deal that eliminates checks on the fossil fuel industry and denies communities their voice on harmful projects. The so-called “Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act” would weaken environmental protections, slash transparency requirements, and block opportunities for public participation at a time when the administration is also gutting environmental regulations across the board.

There is a real need to build more clean energy infrastructure, and supporters of this bill argue it will help to do that. But Congress should not sign off on a fossil fuel industry wish list in exchange for necessary reforms to unlock clean energy. The overall bill is pro-fossil fuels and anti-public participation. And if the Trump administration keeps attacking wind and solar projects it won't matter anyway.

But this deal isn’t done yet, your voice still matters. Act now to tell Congress to put communities first and not to pass this bad deal.
