Tell Congress: No toxic chemicals in our drinking water.

Keeping toxic industrial chemicals such as PFAS out of our drinking water and communities is essential for the health of our families. Known as “forever chemicals,” PFAS do not dissipate, dissolve, or degrade, but instead stay in our water and bodies after being released by polluters. PFAS also are not removed by conventional water treatment, so keeping these chemicals out of our drinking water is critical.

Right now, the federal government is working to remove drinking water safeguards that would keep PFAS out of our taps. Tell your elected representatives to hold the line on these existing protections against toxic forever chemicals and keep our families and communities safe.

Toxic PFAS contamination threatens drinking water in {user_data~State} and poses severe health and safety risks to families across America.

In May, EPA announced plans to delay and abandon federal drinking water limits on PFAS chemicals. EPA intends to delay implementation of drinking water protections against two notorious "forever chemicals," PFOA and PFOS, and eliminate safeguards against four other harmful PFAS, including GenX.  
 
{user_data~State} has waited decades for these federal drinking water protections. We cannot afford to wait any longer for protections to go into place, or to be weakened. Maintaining these drinking water standards is critical to protecting families from harmful PFAS exposure.  
 
Over 100 million people nationwide would benefit from the existing federal drinking water safeguards for PFAS – their cancellation would leave countless Americans and their families at risk. Repealing these standards would not only worsen the nation’s PFAS pollution problem and cause more harm – it would increase the spending necessary to cleanup contamination. 
 
EPA's repeal of these drinking water protections would be a dangerous step backward for people’s health and unfairly put the cost of treating this pollution on hardworking families. Americans across the country deserve clean, safe, affordable drinking water now.  
 
Protecting our drinking water is common sense, fiscally responsible, and pro-family. Please urge EPA Administrator Zeldin to maintain the existing drinking water standards for PFAS and implement them without delay.
